چکیده

Description: Throughout the next decade, 802 wireless systems will become an integral part of fourth generation (4G) cellular communication systems, where the convergence of wireless and cellular networks will materialize through support of interworking and seamless roaming across dissimilar wireless and cellular radio access technologies. IEEE 802 Wireless Systems clearly describes the leading systems, covering IEEE 802.11 WLAN, IEEE 802.15 WPAN, IEEE 802.16 WMAN systems’ architecture, standards and protocols (including mesh) with an instructive approach allowing individuals unfamiliar with wireless systems to follow and understand these technologies. Ranging from digital radio transmission fundamentals, duplex, multiplexing and switching to medium access control, radio spectrum regulation, coexistence and spectrum sharing, this book also offers new solutions to broadband multi-hop networking for cellular and ad hoc operation. The book

A Flexible Tree-Based Routing Protocol with a Mesh Relaying Node in Multi-hop Wireless Mesh Networks

The IEEE 802.11 standard defines a medium access control protocol for wireless local area networks (WLANs). In typical WLANs, access points (APs) are connected with one another in a wired manner. As a way to loosen this restriction wireless mesh networks (WMNs), which are rather independent of a backbone infrastructure, is emerging. Due to their inherent characteristics unlike ad hoc networks, ...

A Hidden Node Aware Network Allocation Vector Management System for Multi-hop Wireless Ad hoc Networks

Many performance evaluations for IEEE 802.11distributed coordination function (DCF) have been previouslyreported in the literature. Some of them have clearly indicatedthat 802.11 MAC protocol has poor performance in multi-hopwireless ad hoc networks due to exposed and hidden nodeproblems. Although RTS/CTS transmission scheme mitigatesthese phenomena, it has not been successful in thoroughlyomit...

Supporting Differentiated Service in Cognitive Radio Wireless Mesh Networks

The MAC layer protocols utilizing enhanced distributed channel access (EDCA) in the recently published IEEE 802.11-2007 are able to provide differentiated QoS for different traffic types in wireless networks through varying the Arbitration Inter-Frame Spaces (AIFS) and contention window sizes. However, the performance of high priority traffic can be seriously degraded in the presence of strong ...

Channel Assignments Utilizing Partially Overlapping Channels for Wireless Mesh Networks

Wireless mesh networking is one of the most promising next generation network technologies. A wireless mesh network is a decentralized, self-organizing, self-configuring and self-healing multi-hop wireless network. In this thesis, we introduce the development, architectures, characteristics and applications of wireless mesh networks and present the existing channel assignments and routing proto...
